What is the Bikepacking
Simply put, bikepacking is the synthesis of mountain biking and minimalist camping; it evokes the freedom of multi-day backcountry hiking, with the range and thrill of riding a mountain bike. It’s about forging places less travelled, both near and afar, via singletrack trails, gravel, and abandoned dirt roads, carrying only essential gear. Ride, eat, sleep, repeat, enjoy! I think you can also define bikepacking like the evolution of Cicloturismo. You need a bike, better if is a mtb or a gravel bike, because the trails are a mix of gravel and offroad. You need a bikepacking bags (like the photo). You need a trail to follow, an idea, a dream !
Is not how many km you ride for day, but the idea to start for a dream travel...that can go on for 1 day or for the life !

How to do...
I think there is not a real "magic potion", because there are different genres of bikepacking approach.
1)Ultralight Race: the trail is on a gravel surface or light offroad, you can use gravel bike with 45mm wide tires or a front mtb. You need rolling speed and your focus is speed and light bags. Probably you'll sleep in a bivibag, you will not change your clothes and only you need is a goretex jacket and food !
2)Multiday Mountain Trail, the trail is on real mountain offroad surface. You can choose a Mtb front or full suspension, in some occasions you can use also bike with 3' wide tires. Probably you'll take with you different kind of clothes, tends, and some camping kit.
3)Expedition: probably the main essence of bikepacking, the dream trail....for this reason the equipment It's very difficult to define.
How is Italy Divide trail ?
The Italy Divide Coast to Coast follows fast rolling gravel roads with quite technical mtb trails, in between to explore the wild and remote parts of Italy with a plenty mix of history along the trail.
1) Best bike ride ? I think a mix between gravel and front mtb, with fast rolling tires (UP to 45mm). At least 2 bottle cages, and a goretex jacket. Camping kitchen kit ?....nooooo wherever you can find a good place to eat ;)) Up to you the bivibag or tends, however you can find nice accomodation in B&B
2) How much time to finish it ?
Depend from 2 to 4 days, please note is a real unsupported adventure...enjoy it
3)Trackers is mandatory for your safety.

IN AUTO DA NORD (VIA DEL MARE):
Dal grande Raccordo Anulare, uscita 28 Via del Mare fino ad Ostia, poi percorrere il lungomare in direzione sud , dopo lo stabilimento balneare Venezia girare a sinistra e subito dopo a destra imboccare la Via Litoranea.
IN AUTO DA SUD (VIA CRISTOFORO COLOMBO) :
Dal Grande Raccordo Anulare uscita 27 Cristoforo Colombo fino al mare poi a sinistra in direzione Torvaianica, dopo lo stabilimento balneare Venezia a sinistra poi subito a destra imboccare la Via Litoranea.
AUTOBUS 061:
Nel periodo invernale, tranne la domenica ed i giorni festivi, la Linea Urbana 061 percorre la Litoranea, con 12 corse giornaliere che uniscono Piazzale della Stazione del Lido (Metro Ostia Centro) con Viale Po a Torvajanica, poco oltre Il Villaggio Tognazzi – Campo Ascolano e ritorno. Il tempo di percorrenza è di circa 20 minuti.

AUTOBUS 07 E 070:
La linea 07 collega la stazione Colombo della ferrovia Roma-Lido a Torvaianica con fermate sulla via Litoranea nei pressi degli stabilimenti balneari privati e comunali.
Dalla stazione metro Colombo al Campeggio e ritorno passano ogni 10/15 minuti circa dalle ore 7.30 alle 21.00. La linea è attiva fino al sabato e nei giorni festivi.

METRO ROMA LIDO:
E’ la linea metropolitana che congiunge Ostia a Roma, congiungendosi con tre fermate della Linea B, Piramide (il Capolinea), Basilica San Paolo ed EUR Magliana.
Il servizio inizia alle ore 05:18 della mattina e finisce alle 23:30, nelle ore di punta ha una frequenza oraria di dodici corse.
Sul vagone di testa è possibile trasportare la bicicletta tutti giorni in orari prestabiliti, sabato e domenica sempre.
Il capolinea è la Stazione Cristoforo Colombo dove si può salire sull’autobus per arrivare a Capocotta, anche se alcune linee di bus possono essere “abbordate” già dalle Stazioni del Lido Centro, Stella Polare, Castelfusano.

AUTOBUS 061:
During the winter period, except Sundays and holidays, Urban Line 061 runs along the Litoranea, with 12 daily trips joining Piazzale della Stazione del Lido (Metro Ostia Centro) with Viale Po in Torvajanica, just beyond Il Villaggio Tognazzi - Campo Ascolano and back. Travel time is about 20 minutes.

Route 07 connects Colombo station of the Roma-Lido railway to Torvaianica with stops on Via Litoranea near private and municipal bathing establishments.
From Colombo Metro Station to the Campground and back they run about every 10 to 15 minutes from 7:30 am to 9 pm. The line runs until Saturdays and holidays.

ROMA LIDO METRO:
This is the metro line that connects Ostia to Rome, joining three stops on Line B, Piramide (the terminus), Basilica San Paolo, and EUR Magliana.
The service starts at 05:18 in the morning and ends at 23:30; during peak hours it has an hourly frequency of twelve runs.
On the lead car it is possible to carry a bicycle every day at scheduled times, Saturdays and Sundays always.
The terminus is Cristoforo Colombo Station where you can board the bus to get to Capocotta, although some bus lines can be “boarded” as early as Lido Centro, Stella Polare, Castelfusano Stations.
